Welcome back to another inspiring recap from Hop the Series! Produced by House of Peach Inc. and hosted by Peach E (alongside co-host Vonda), Hop was created to inspire aspiring female entrepreneurs through the power of real stories, courage, and perseverance.
In this very special episode, we had the absolute honor of sitting down with a true community powerhouse: 10-year-old Helena Rose, founder of Helena Rose 11 Lemonade Stand, accompanied by her incredible mom. If this young lady doesn't inspire you to chase your dreams, we don't know what will!
From a Toy Desire to a Thriving Business
Every great entrepreneur starts somewhere, and for Helena Rose, her journey began four years ago at just six years old. When she wanted a specific ice cream truck toy and her mom suggested waiting for her birthday, Helena decided to take matters into her own hands.
What started as a simple front-yard stand using a living room coffee table, a handmade sign, and a neighbor's patio umbrella quickly blossomed into a multi-year family tradition involving parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandma. Today, Helena has upgraded her setup with a professional pink canopy and a clear vision for her brand.
More Than Just Lemonade: Community Impact & Academic Success
Helena’s lemonade stand isn't just about selling delicious strawberry and regular lemonade—it's about community building and personal growth.
Bringing Lemonade Day to Dover: After traveling to Wilmington for Lemonade Day in past years, Helena decided she wanted to bring the excitement closer to home. After a year of hard work presenting to city hall, the chamber of commerce, and local groups, she successfully launched Dover's first official Lemonade Stand Day.
Small Business Partnerships: Instead of corporate locations, Helena and her team partnered with local Dover small businesses, turning local shop owners into mentors for young entrepreneurs.
Boosting Grades Through Business: Helena shares a powerful lesson on financial literacy and math. By managing her own profits, savings, and charitable donations (supporting food banks, her school, and animal shelters), her math grades soared from C's to A's, landing her straight on the honor roll with five awards!
What’s Next for Helena Rose?
This young boss is far from finished. Looking ahead, Helena is working on launching "Club L," an interactive club for kids in grades 3 through 6 designed to foster entrepreneurship, teamwork, and creative strategy. Plus, with an invitation to an upcoming event in Washington, D.C. next summer, the sky is truly the limit!
